Say hello to the absolutely adorable Stella Mackenzie! Just 12 days old when I photographed her – she was (is) as sweet as can be. Though Stella didn’t quite want to sleep, as you can see below, once she was out there was no waking her! I adore her little blond eyebrows. Congratulations to her parents, Wendy and Kenny. She’s just perfect.
I wanted to quickly catch up on blogging before I shut the old laptop down for a few days as I head to Mexico for Stacey and Chris’ wedding!
Meet Layah. She’s the absolutely adorable daughter of my friends Jamie and Matt. I was really excited when they asked me to photograph her and, even though she was due for a nap, Layah was all smiles for her shoot. I had a wonderful time both photographing and catching up with old friends. Thanks for a great shoot!
My fellow New Yorkers know it’s incredibly hot lately! So, I am have to give a big ‘thank you’ to all my recent engagement shoot couples for keeping cool during their sessions.
I met up with Amanda and Jeffrey in Greenpoint for their engagement session last week. We hit up some of their favorite neighborhood spots, ending in the new (and pretty amazing) East River State Park. It’s funny, I feel like I know Brooklyn really well, but lately all of my couples have been opening my eyes to locations I’ve never encountered. I love it! Amanda and Jeffrey were super fun to be around. I can’t wait till their wedding next April!!!
Recently I had the privilege of spending time with James and his family on a photo shoot for The Littlest Heroes Project. Before meeting them, Lisa (James’ mom) shared James’ story with me. James has type 1 diabetes. On February 8th, 2009 James seemed to be coming down with a stomach bug. After a very tough afternoon he began to appear lethargic, and his parents brought him to the doctor. A few minutes into their appointment, James stopped breathing. An ambulance rushed James to the hospital where he was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis. James (and his family) spent one week in ICU and another week in recovery. James was only 21 months when all this started and he was a fighter from day one.
Today James is a playful, energetic three year old, described by his parents as a the true definition of a little hero. Hanging out with James was awesome! He’s got a totally hysterical personality (as does his sister) and a ton of energy. Spending time with him, you would have no idea James takes multiple injections daily to stay alive. A brave, little hero indeed.

Yesterday was a day of ups and downs. My awesome engagement shoot on a perfect Brooklyn day was definitely an ‘up’. My smashed iPhone screen a total ‘down’. I was particularly grumpy on an over-crowded subway commute (You guessed it, a ‘down’.) to the Upper East Side, but when I got off the subway I received some news via twitter (Are you following me? If not, please do – @kristinahill ) from Kelly and Lara at So You’re EnGAYged that my session with Brian and Tom was featured on the blog. Definitely an up!!!
If you’re not familiar with So You’re EnGAYged, you should get familiar with it! It is a great resource for anyone planning a wedding. It’s back to editing for me. Just wanted to share a bit of happy news!
