Hello readers! I’m excited to bring this adorable family session to the blog today. A few months ago we met up in DUMBO to do a pretty fun (how cute are their outfits?!) family shoot. Clients always ask me about ‘what to wear’ and I feel like this family did a wonderful job of coordinating, without being identical. I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Morristown, NJ – Jennifer and Mike’s Engagement http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/17/morristown-nj-jennifer-and-mikes-engagement/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/17/morristown-nj-jennifer-and-mikes-engagement/#comments Tue, 17 Jan 2012 17:00:31 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=4509

Towards the end of last year, I met up with Jennifer and Mike in downtown Morristown, NJ for their engagement session. Again, it was one of those unseasonably warm (but windy!) days. I had so much fun wandering around with the two of them, getting to know one another. While it seems like they booked me ages ago, I’m excited that their June wedding is quickly approaching us! I can’t wait to capture their day and spend more time with the two of them – I am certain it is going to be a wonderful time.

Me and my iPhone: Alcatraz! http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/16/me-and-my-iphone-alcatraz/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/16/me-and-my-iphone-alcatraz/#comments Mon, 16 Jan 2012 12:11:45 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=4524

I’m really excited about tonight’s premiere of Alcatraz, dorky? Maybe. In late October I took a trip to San Francisco to visit some friends and catch my breath mid-wedding season. I had such a fantastic time exploring the city, but by far the best thing I did was a night tour of Alcatraz. It’s going to sound crazy, but I went to San Francisco without my camera. I traveled so much for work last year that I wanted this to be a vacation where I wasn’t getting held up at the airport so they could swab my bag in security or just lugging a backpack filled with gear! I did, however have my iPhone, so expect a few iPhone posts on San Francisco. For today though, in honor of Alcatraz’s premier, I bring you these. Happy Monday!

View the inmates had of San Francisco.

As part of the night tour, they open the hospital wing. It was amazing.

I’m so excited to bring you Lyndsey and Jon’s engagement shoot. We lucked out with one of those unseasonably warm winter days with pretty gorgeous lighting! It was my first time shooting at Liberty State Park and I loved it. Lyndsey and Jonathan were so easygoing and fun to work with – I can’t wait to shoot their wedding (on my birthday!) this March at The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ. Congratulations guys!

Interactive Guest Book! http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/09/interactive-guest-book/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2012/01/09/interactive-guest-book/#comments Mon, 09 Jan 2012 17:28:42 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=4488

This past weekend was the Lovesick Expo at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. It was a total honor to exhibit along side of a select group of talented and unique wedding vendors – I can’t wait to share more about it.

At the expo I displayed a few of my new products for 2012, but this interactive guestbook was such a huge hit that I knew I had to share it on the blog. The book is 10×10″, 30 pages and completely customizable with images from your engagement shoot as well as questions for your wedding guests to answer on your big day. It makes a truly unique keepsake from your wedding day!

Monmouth Beach Bath and Tennis Club Wedding – Noelle and Marshall are married! http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/23/monmouth-beach-bath-and-tennis-club-wedding-noelle-and-marshall-are-married/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/23/monmouth-beach-bath-and-tennis-club-wedding-noelle-and-marshall-are-married/#comments Fri, 23 Dec 2011 16:53:24 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=4273

Noelle and Marshall were married at the stunning Monmouth Beach Bath and Tennis Club in Monmouth Beach, NJ. It’s very rare that I do not meet a couple before the wedding, but this was one of those cases. Noelle booked me over the phone several months before their day, after viewing Dana and Brian’s wedding on Facebook. We chatted a few times on the phone, but I truly didn’t know what to expect when I arrived in Monmouth to shoot their wedding. Boy, was I overwhelmed with eye candy! The more I talked to Noelle on the day, the more I realized just how hard she worked on the elements and overall style of their wedding day. It’s safe to say that she completely succeeded in pulling off a truly inspirational DIY wedding. Everything was just beautiful! Best wishes to Marshall and Noelle!

Governor’s Island Engagement Shoot – Meet Stacy and Kenny! http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/15/governors-island-engagement-shoot-meet-stacy-and-kenny/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/15/governors-island-engagement-shoot-meet-stacy-and-kenny/#comments Thu, 15 Dec 2011 19:12:21 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=4165

The short version of the story: Stacy and I have been best friends since high school (sparing the readers an embarrassing braces and bad haircut photo to prove it) and now she’s marrying Kenny (who I also knew in high school and college, but separate of Stacy. I believe from my more ‘theatery’ days). Sandwiched between meeting Stacy and shooting her engagement photos? Countless rides to and from school, meeting Rivers Cuomo, lots of mix tapes and lots of shows, the exploring of Weird NJ spots, trips to the diner, a shared love for ‘canceled after one season’ TV shows, a drive cross-country, matching tattoos, an intense Buffy marathon, several years as roommates, two trips to Glee Live… you get the picture. She’s one of my oldest and dearest friends and it was a total honor to work with her and Kenny on (my new favorite NYC shooting spot) Governor’s Island. It was also a little awkward at first knowing one another so well, I’m not going to lie! But the nerves (all three of our nerves!) quickly faded and we ended up laughing pretty much non-stop. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year at the Montauk Club in Brooklyn. But for now, enjoy these adorable shots.

A Truly Vintage Wedding – Old Field Club, East Setauket – Allison and Greg are Married! http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/01/a-truly-vintage-wedding-east-setauket-country-club-allison-and-greg-are-married/ http://kristinahill.com/blog/2011/12/01/a-truly-vintage-wedding-east-setauket-country-club-allison-and-greg-are-married/#comments Fri, 02 Dec 2011 01:04:48 +0000 Administrator http://kristinahill.com/blog/?p=2545

When Allison first contacted me about her vintage wedding, I was super excited. Everything she described sounded so glamorous, I knew it was something I would love to photograph. The more she and I discussed details, the more excited I grew and after seeing her attention to detail for their vintage engagement shoot, I knew their wedding was going to be flawless. I was so impressed with how it turned out, that I had to ask Allison how she pulled it off for the blog. Here’s what she said!

“Greg and I tried to be as genuinely vintage with the details of our wedding as possible. The original concept came out of our love for old movies and we slowly expanded the vision to include other aspects of the era that we enjoy like 1930-40′s jargon, vintage fashion and music. Both my dress, which was very similar to one worn by Katharine Hepburn in the movie Holiday and Greg’s bespoke suit, which we designed from the cuffs up, were the jumping off points. The accessories we used were real vintage pieces that were like new and anything we couldn’t find we made ourselves with the 30′s and 40′s in mind; the same went for all of our reception decorations. I knew right off the bat that I wanted to hand-make as many things for the wedding as I possibly could, the catch was not having them look homemade. I have to admit that at times Greg and I felt slightly overwhelmed by the projects we had undertaken, like the telegram Save the Dates, all of which we baked in the oven to obtain an aged appearance and some of which caught on fire, ha! But looking back I can honestly say that we wouldn’t have had it any other way. At the end of the night Greg and I had received so many compliments that we knew all the effort we put into even the seemingly most mundane detail was well worth it!”
