Montauk Club Wedding – Amanda and Jeffrey are Married!

I was really excited to work with Amanda and Jeffrey on their wedding day. After their engagement shoot, I knew their wedding would be perfect and I was right! Every detail was so well executed and it was obvious how much time and thought went into the planning. Their family and friends were a total joy to be around and everyone clearly had a fabulous time celebrating the obvious love the two share.

I also got to shoot at the Montauk Club – a gorgeous venue – and work with some pretty fabulous vendors (see list below!). Congrats to Amanda and Jeffrey. Hope you’re enjoying your ‘mini-moon’.

Embarrassingly, I can’t figure out how to put links into a post from my iPad… so, these will be updated tomorrow.

Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain in Lonely Planet Magazine

I was really excited to find out that BBC’s Lonely Planet Magazine was featuring one of my shots (actually my favorite shot!) from the Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain vintage love shoot a few months back. Here is a shot of the image in June’s issue. If you’re in the UK, pick up a copy and if you’re in New York, definitely visit Brooklyn Farmacy – It’s delicious!

Me and My iPhone – Last Week

This (rainy/snowy/slushy) Monday’s iPhone post is a round up of things I did last week. Enjoy them!!!

Last Sunday I took the train to Connecticut to see Jasmine Star and Justin & Mary speak at CTPPA.

I got back to New York feeling really motivated and ready to jump into wedding season! Then, my Chinese food gave me some additional words of wisdom…

I also took some motivation from the street!

On my walk home from the subway, I couldn’t stop noticing how bright everything felt. I loved the way the sun hit this blue wall & pipes.

Towards the end of the week it started to really warm up! I got excited about spring and started to notice flowers popping up around the neighborhood.

Even fake ones!

Who doesn’t love a perfectly blue sky filled with birds?

I shot a wedding on Saturday…

At a golf course!

On Sunday I walked to a family shoot a few neighborhoods away. On the way home I spotted this mural.

I know today doesn’t feel so ‘springy’ but happy spring anyway!

Wedding Crashers 2011

This weekend I was honored to be a speaker at Wedding Crashers, a wedding fair that took place at the Bell House in Brooklyn. It was put on by Brooklyn Based and featured some of my favorite wedding vendors. When I wasn’t speaking, I was running around snapping photos and I’m super excited to share them with you! I plan on posting a little post on my talk, so stay tuned for that. But for now check out what went down.

How pretty is this entrance done by Rock Paper Scissors Events?

Rebecca Shepherd Floral Design had one of the most beautiful tables I’ve ever seen. Her arrangements are always unique and just so stunning to look at!

The lovely Anni Bruno of NYC Faces doing an impromptu make over (she’s the make up artist behind Sam’s beautiful face in this wedding!).

The beautiful (and delicious!) cakes by Nine Cakes !

I love this shot of the Nine Cakes ladies being goofy in the photobooth.

I also got to meet talented wedding planner Tammy Golson who helped organize the event. I was totally in love with her table (being a scrabble fanatic!).

Oh! And check out this stunning designs by Inspired Goodness!

Afterwards, everyone headed over to The Green Building in Gowanus for some more fantastic vendors and a fashion show by Gabriella Bridal Salon and JFK Jean. I got a chance to hang out backstage with the gals and guys. I am so in love with this first dress!

Makeup artist Jessa Blades at work.

I loved this first dance demo from Orange Grove Dance. How in love do these two look?

The entire day was a total blast! Additional images can be seen here: Wedding Crashers Album

Me and my iPhone

I take a lot of photos with my iPhone. A lot. And I tend to do very little with them. Until now. I’ve decided to begin a weekly series of iPhonography. I’m not sure what it will become, but I’m excited. So today’s post is about me.

I know clients and potential clients often want to know a bit more about me. Usually this happens over a coffee at our initial meeting, but there is no reason I shouldn’t bring a little of ‘me’ to the blog every now and again. So, here goes…

I love Brooklyn.
Coney Island
And my cat Moo.

I drink a lot of coffee.

I used to teach art.

I’m a Canon shooter.

I wish cats could use Photoshop.

I love to travel,
Jet Blue
but I also love keeping things local.

Christmastime is my favorite time of year.

And this is what I look like.

Red Hook Engagement Shoot – Barry and Bethany

I’m super excited to be blogging Barry and Bethany’s engagement shoot! I’ve been looking forward to photographing these two ever since our first meeting and after shooting their engagement session, I can’t wait to capture their wedding this fall! After our plan to start at the Smith-9 Street station was foiled due to weekend construction, we headed down to Red Hook for plan B and I’m so happy we did! Beginning at Fairway and ending up at Ikea, we had a great time exploring some of my old and new favorite Red Hook locations together. The ongoing joke was that they couldn’t stop kissing and they sort of couldn’t, but it is an engagement shoot, right?! They were troopers too, because I had a ‘vision’ for a shot that led to them getting totally drenched by Ikea’s sprinkler system (see last few images). Thanks for a great shoot!

Noah

This is going to be a week of many blogs (I hope). In four days, I did six shoots and I intend to blog them all…

We’ll start with Noah! I first met Noah when he was just born and it is amazing to see how much of a little person he’s turned into in just six months! He is totally adorable and was such a trooper the entire session – I don’t think he got upset even once! Here are a few shots from our session together on Saturday morning. Enjoy!

Downtown Brooklyn Engagement Shoot – Kayla and Mike

As you can see by the snow on the ground, this engagement shoot took place a few weeks ago. I sincerely hope that this is my last shoot that has snow in it for a long time (did I just jinx this gorgeous weather?! I hope not!).

Kayla and Mike were so fun to photograph. There is a chance that Kayla was dangling the idea of fried food at Chip Shop over Mike’s head the entire time, but he was a really good sport. It was a cold day after one of our big snowstorms. We walked around Boerum Hill and Brooklyn Heights shooting in some spots I’ve always wanted to shoot – including Brooklyn Height’s Love Lane! Enjoy and happy (almost) spring!

BAM Wedding Expo – Here Comes the Brooklyn Bride!

Yesterday, I had the honor of showing my photography at BAM and Great Performances’ bridal show – Here Comes the Brooklyn Bride. It was such an awesome time! My sister, April, and I worked so hard on getting things ready and I couldn’t be more pleased with how my table turned out. As most of you may know, BAM is an unbelievably beautiful space! I got to meet so many cool brides and got such interest in my Brooklyn Is For Lovers project (stay tuned for more info on that coming later today…) – exciting!

Here’s a peek at my happy little booth:

April designed some really amazing new products – which were a huge hit. Here is a look at some of them!

It was also great to be surrounded by so many creative Brooklyn-based vendors. Fate was kind, as I was randomly placed next to the lovely Keavy, owner of Kumquat Cupcakery. She supplied April and I with delicious little cupcakes to keep our energy up throughout the day – and hands down she makes the best strawberry treat of any kind I’ve ever tasted!

My booth was also across from the beautiful collaborative tablescape by Jillian of 100 Layer Cake, Sarah of Blossom and Branch and Jenna of Love Jenna Calligraphy. I was swooning over all the tiny (and Brooklyn-themed!) details of the table.

It was a great day – I hope to be a part of it again next year!

ReBar Wedding – Sam and Lee (part 2)

Yay! I’m so happy to post Sam and Lee’s reception.

It was held at reBar in Brooklyn, which made a perfect venue for a truly elegant and incredibly fun wedding. I adored Sam and Lee’s reception just as much as their ceremony. While processing their images I’ve had a smile from ear to ear, remembering events and moments and emotions… I’m excited to share these photos. Enjoy!

The toasts at Sam and Lee’s wedding were among the funniest, most heartwarming toasts I’ve ever heard. It’s obvious that everyone felt that way!
