2009 Best of Babies…

Wow. When I started going through these baby photos, I was amazed at how many babies I’ve photographed this year! Obviously photographing babies is a total joy and picking a ‘best of…’ selection was really hard. All my favorites ended up being black and white images, which I found interesting. I’m going to try to keep my ‘best of…’ posts to ten images. So here are my top ten favorite baby photos of 2009…

Newborn Shoot – Alex

Today I had the pleasure of spending time with little Alex (just six weeks old!) and his mom. Alex was a total trooper, staying awake the entire time (the image with his eyes shut he was faking it!). There was also something sort of moving about photographing a newborn as our new president was being sworn into office.

Here are a few shots from today.

I photographed him through the mesh of his crib. The resulting texture made me think of an aged photo so I played a bit with the image.

More Halloween Fun!

This Halloween I realized that children in Halloween costumes are by far the cutest sight ever!

I had such a fantastic time on spending my halloween night with some of the most fun kids on the Upper West Side. Nothing spooky about this event, it was all around adorableness! Here are a few highlights.

A lovely little tiger…

I just loved the way he looked, asleep through his mom’s wing.blog_8512.jpg

The little tiger truly outlasted all the other guests. I felt it appropriate she wave this blog goodbye :)

Kidville Party – Halloween Fun!

After photographing Mattias last weekend, I joined his family and friends to photograph his spooky Halloween party at Kidville. Everyone looked great in their costumes and there was lots of fun to be had!

After doing his hair three times with ‘Jell-o’ (gel) and the blowdryer, Mattias was growing impatient for his big party to begin!

Kids Portraits – Mattias

Total number of RAW photographs I took this weekend = just over 2500 in three days. I’m pretty sure that sets a record and it also provides me with a lot of digital dark room work.

I played with Mattias on Sunday and took some photographs of him to send with his school application. However, this kid has a lot of personality. We made a compromise that for each ‘serious’ one (appropriate for his applications) we’d do 5 (yes, 5) silly ones.

These are a few of my favorites.

I showed this to Mattias after I took it and asked him what I should call it. He said, “I’m a lego man in a lego house, duh.”

This was during the negotiations. My favorite is that I asked Mattias to pick out something nice to wear and he chose a bright orange Pirate shirt.

Kids Portraits – Meet Audrey

This is my first post on the new blog!

These are highlights from my photo shoot with Audrey. I’m still learning to post photos – so am hoping this works out nicely! Audrey was such a pleasure to photograph. Meeting her, Jeni (mom) and Ross (dad) was such a pleasure. Thanks to mom and dad for braving the traffic and traveling to Queens! Enjoy the photos!audrey_1932.jpgA favorite of mineaudrey.jpgaudrey130c.jpg
